The voting from the public present:

Two thirds of the evening consisted of the public speaking and in the final third this is how the politicians responded.

Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, Green and UKIP parties were invited and the latter four were on the platform all evening.  The eight invited Conservatives including the seven members of the Cabinet declined but the chairman invited any Conservative present to come up to the stage for the final session and Fred Horsington kindly did so (in fact he is the Chairman of the West Dorset Conservative Association).

And Finally

Welcome to the PUBLIC FIRST GROUP website

Campaign for Local Democracy

Our immediate aims – following the Public First Group meeting of January 7th 2015 are:

1.   To take steps to seek a local referendum that would require West Dorset District Council to substitute a more representative system for the current ‘Cabinet’ process.

2.   To initiate urgently a public debate on the benefits of changing to a Unitary form of local government.

3.   To encourage more “pop-up forums” through West Dorset in the coming weeks.

If you would like to get involved please email how you think you might be able to help by emailing us on publicfirstgroup@gmail.com

And welcome to our Group’s Campaign for Local Democracy.
